THE FRENCH
French (native name français) is a language belonging to the group of Romance languages \u200b\u200b of family of Indo-European languages \u200b\u200b . It is a Romance language most widely used, exceeded only by number of speakers, from English and Portuguese .
French is the sixth most spoken language in the world for about 125 million people is the native language, while for about 165 million is the second language ( 2005 ). This language is spoken mainly in France , Quebec , Belgium , Switzerland and in all former French colonies. This is the official language in 50 countries and in many communities and authorities.

However, in several regions of France, remained and other Romance languages: the course , an Italic language in Corsica the Breton a Celtic language, the German dialects spoken in Alsace or Basque . The largest (but in the process of disappearing) 's Occitan (French Langue d'oc), in the south, also spoken by Dante Alighieri which would have been the origin of the term.

French is written with 24 letters of ' Latin :
abcdefghijlmnopqrstuv xyz (d wek found in words 'foreign origin) to which are added the vowels œ (one or followed by e) and æ (one followed by an e) and some diacritical marks (accents for the most part) as: à â ç é ê ë î ï is ô û ù ü. With at least 32 phonemes, many of them (especially speech) without a corresponding in Italian, the pronunciation is not always straightforward and easy for an Italian speaker, but the French phonetics is governed by rigid rules that, if you learn, allow to correctly pronounce almost every word that you know in writing.
